30 MINUTE BOURSIN & ITALIAN SAUSAGE PASTA

My creamy Boursin & Italian Sausage Pasta is a delicious way to use a package of the popular soft cheese. The sauce is ridiculously good, and it compliments the Italian sausage perfectly. This dish is the perfect comfort food that can be ready in under 30 minutes and is sure to please even picky eaters.

Serves 2-3

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 pkg. Garlic & Fine Herbs Boursin Cheese (or any flavour you prefer)

  • 1 lb Italian sausage (casings removed if using sausages)

  • 1 onion, chopped finely

  • 2 cups Chicken Broth

  • 4 Garlic Cloves, minced

  • 1/4 cup Heavy Cream

  • 1/2 tsp Red Pepper Flakes

  • Salt & Pepper to taste

  • 3/4 cup Parmesan Cheese

  • 1 cup chopped spinach or 1/2 cup chopped basil (optional)

AND

  • 4 cups (375 grams) of dry pasta in your choice of shape, cooked in salted water until al dente. (*still slightly firm)

  • 1/4 cup reserved pasta water 

DIRECTIONS:

  1. In large saucepan, fry Italian sausage until lightly browned.

  2. Add chopped onion, red pepper flakes and minced garlic.  Sauté until onions are tender.

  3. Add chicken broth, heavy cream, Parmesan cheese, Boursin cheese and stir to combine.

  4. Once the Boursin cheese is melted, add the chopped spinach or basil if using and season with salt and pepper and more Parmesan cheese to your taste preference.  

  5. Add cooked, drained pasta and 1/4 cup reserved pasta water to the pan and stir to combine.  Allow to simmer for 1-2 minutes.

  6. Garnish with extra red pepper flakes and Parmesan if desired. Enjoy!
