EASY AMISH DINNER BUNS IN THE BREAD MACHINE
I make these easy Amish dinner buns for every special holiday meal.
They take very little effort because I allow my bread machine to do the hard work for me while I am busy cooking the rest of the huge spread my family looks forward to.
I just toss the ingredients in, select the dough cycle and hit start. One and a half hours later, the dough is ready to turn out onto a floured surface to form into balls which literally takes 3 minutes. I then let them rise for an additional 30-40 minutes and then pop them in the oven 20-25 minutes before dinner is ready to serve so we can all enjoy these perfect and absolutely delicious warm dinner buns with our meal.
These rolls are soft, light, slightly sweet and so fluffy! It’s impossible to stop at one. They are also still amazing the next day!
INGREDIENTS
1 1/2 cups warm water
3/4 tsp salt (I use Himalayan)
1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup vegetable or canola oil
3 2/3 cups flour
1 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
melted butter for brushing on finished rolls
DIRECTIONS
Add the warm water and oil to your bread machine followed by the dry ingredients.
Select the “dough” mode and hit start.
Allow the machine to complete its dough cycle. My Delonghi Bread Machine takes 1.5 hours to mix, rest, and for the dough to rise.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and form into 18 balls.
Shape rolls and place in a baking pan (grease the pan or spray with cooking spray). I use a half-sheet pan. Cover with a damp dish towel and allow to rise in a warm place* for 30-40 minutes.
Bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
Remove from oven and brush generously with melted butter while still in baking dish for a perfect buttery flavour and glossy smooth finish.
*Dough rising tip:
Preheat your oven for 60 seconds and then shut it off. It makes the perfect warm spot for dough to rise.
