HOMEMADE LEMONADE
Not much beats homemade freshly squeezed lemonade on a hot summer day! You only need sugar, water, and lemons to make this refreshing, simple and classic summer drink. Adding extra lemon slices and a few mint leaves makes it even more special.
Our grandlovies were over for a few days this week and we spent a lot of time baking, chatting, and playing outside. They were thrilled when I brought a jug of ice cold lemonade out to quench their thirst after playing a rowdy game of soccer with the big uncles.
INGREDIENTS
1 cup hot water
6-7 cups cold water (6 if you like it sweeter, 7 if you like it less-sweet)
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
1 1/2 cup fresh-squeezed lemon juice (about 7-8 large lemons)
Optional: lemon slices and mint leaves
DIRECTIONS
In a juice pitcher, pour in the 1 cup of hot water and sugar and stir until sugar is dissolved. Let cool.
Add the lemon juice and remaining 7 cups of cold water. Stir.
Pour over ice and add a lemon slice and mint leaves if you like. Serve.
